Landscaping in Monterey Park, CA

Monterey Park climbs, and the streets that climb are where the retaining walls are. Split-level lots with the house above or below the street level need the grade held somewhere, and a lot of what is holding it now was built decades ago without drainage behind it.

Those walls announce themselves before they fail — a lean, a bulge in the middle course, cracking that steps diagonally. Replacing one properly means excavating a real footing, backfilling with drain rock and running a drain line to daylight, which is more work than rebuilding the face and hoping. It is also the difference between a wall that lasts thirty years and one that lasts five. Alongside wall work we do driveways, patios, fencing, and full yard builds across the city.
